1/72 Nationalist T-26 tanks (own collection)

Just a few pictures to show you some different markings arrangements for a SCW Nationalist T-26 tank, using a model from the (no longer existing, I believe) UM Ukrainian firm, while the other two are hybrids of Minairons and S-Model kits.

I hope that, despite I being definitely far from the skills of a pro painter, the pictures above can serve you as a source of inspiration!

15mm SCW Republican dispatch riders

We've just released a new Spanish Civil War set in 1:100 scale --this time, a set consisting of white metal Republican dispatch riders on Harley Davidson Flathead motorcycles. I'm honored to say that the rider figure has been sculpted as a gift to Minairons by Martin Goddard from Peter Pig. Wish you like the set as much as I do!

Please watch the superb painting job by HeresyBrush on a couple of samples (click on the pictures to see them larger):

We're selling them by the 3 in a blister, priced at €3.95. You can find them here.

Age of Sail demo game

Last weekend, we had a lot of fun at Minairons HQ. Some friends and I held an Age of Sail game using Ganesha Games' Galleys & Galleons rule set on a Caliga vinyl game mat. As the introductory game it had to be, the scenario involved few ships (2-3 each side), showing three different rigging configurations (square, lateen and galleon-like hybrid riggings), so as to get familiar to each.

Winds compass and distance rulers were home made, using recycled materials of every kind. For gamers' ease, I worked out a stats card for each ship that listed their quality and combat ratings, special rules, behaviour face to winds, actions allowance and so.

As for the model ships used, they were mostly from Peter Pig's range #18: two galleons, a brig and a schooner, while the fifth ship was a xebec from a Shapeways artist --all painted by myself (still learning to improve my skills at painting ships, admittedly) and decorated with Minairons ensigns, flags and pennants.

Either both gamers and I (performing as DJ) had a lot of fun with it and are anxious to give another try to Galleys & Galleons again. While in process of agreeing a new gaming date, I'm painting a couple of ships else --this including a Minairons galleon of course!

1/100 Trubia-Naval tank preview

Here you can see what our upcoming Trubia-Naval SCW tank looks like at 1/100 scale.

This model can be considered as pre-built, because hull and running gear have been cast as a single part --so users will only need to glue the weapons of your choice to have the tank finished and ready to paint. Simpler than its 1/72 cousin, then.

Here you have it close to a couple of Panzers I:

First Galleon, ready and shipping!

I'm excited to announce that the first model belonging to our new 1:600 scale Age of Sail Ships range is right now available and ready to sail toward ignote seas. As a matter of fact, some are already sailing toward some trusting in advance customers' harbours, while a handful else are on the way to Scale Creep headquarters too.

As you can see by the picture above, model can be considered as a 'fast build' one, because it consists of a maximum of 15 parts --some of which are optional, as stern lanterns and mast tops. Most of parts are white metal --except for hull, bow and mast tops, that are high quality resin cast. And last, model kit is complemented by a sheet with ensign, mast flags and jack for a Spanish Treasury Galleon --with several other, alternative flag sheets already available at our website, and many more on the way.

Please have a glance on a built sample, masterly painted by Julián of Model J Ship (worth to point out he chose a fore mast rigging option, with fully unfold sails, differing from the one actually in kit):

We're planning to expand this new range as fast as possible, with a second Galleon release next month, as well as a Man-of-war on workbenches right now. Besides, we've met an agreement with Skytrex Ltd. to retail their Triton 1:600 scale ranges (Armada, Renaissance Galleys and possibly Ancient Galleys too), that are going to add to our current availability of Peter Pig ships.

Tokens suitable for Chain of Command

Minairons Miniatures is going to carry some else of the innovative products from Caliga Accesorios, who are already our plastic stands supplier. I'm pleased to show you a first range among those --a wide collection of tokens and markers auitable for Chain of Command (CoC) rule set.

Each set comprises 11 plastic tokens (6 x 50mm round, 4 x 25mm round and 1 x 20mm square) and a stickers sheet with markings for making 6 Patrol Markers, 4 Jump Off Points tokens and 1 Morale marker (all them two-sided).

Stickers are self-adhesive and conveniently pre-cut, so you only need to peel these off and apply them on each side of the corresponding plastic token. For durability, it is advisable to paint token edges the colour of your choice before applying the stickers. Not compulsory, but some varnishing afterwards would be a good idea too.

Those sets currently listed on Minairons website are SCW Republican and Nationalist, Italian and Abyssinian, Soviet, Finnish, German, Polish, British, French, American and Japanese only. In spite of this, virtually ANY other set of WWII Nation markers can be done (if not already existing). Just ask!

(The token sets here shown are just a likely accessory to Chain of Command (CoC) wargames rule set, created and owned by Too Fat Lardies. Such rule set is needed for playing CoC, and can be purchased at their website).

1/600 Privateer flags

We've just made available three new sets of 17th Century naval flags, devoted this time to renowned privateers such as Laurent de Graff, Henry Morgan and the Flemish corsairs in Spanish service collectively known as Dunkirkers.

Prior to publication, a thoroughful research work has been carried out so as to get ensured the flags offered were historically accurate --or the most likely ones at least, whenever insuffucient data were available. Results of such research are explained under "Did you know that...?" label on each flag sheet webpage.

Honestly, I'm proud of the work so far done with this range. Our Age of Sail flags collection, currently consisting of 18 sheets covering 7 maritime nations (and a ruthless pirate as well!), will be an outstanding complement to the 1/600 ships range we are about to launch. Such is just a matter of days, BTW.

Besides, such flags are an ideal match for other brands' ship models, such as those from Peter Pig's Range 18, as you can see below.

1/600 Early Galleon artwork

I'm excited to show you the brilliant painting job by Model J Ship naval workshop on a sample of our upcoming 1/600 Early Galleon.

Ultimate model kit will come in box, complemented by a flagsheet with a 17th Century Spanish ensign, flags and pennant --those very same the workshop has used to decorate this ship. However, eventually interested users will be able to give her the nationality of their will thanks to the wide collection of naval flags we've already published.

Once built, model ship is around 11cm long from bowsprit to stern, and some 13.5cm high. Here below you have another sample just primed and based, along with a sloop from Peter Pig for comparison.

We are now about to take box design to printshop, so there's a reasonable confidence we'll be able to release it around the end of month. Ultimate price is to be €15.95.
